Did you know the HMRC App can speed up the recruitment process for both candidates and employers?

How can the app help you?
Accessing information for a new job sometimes means contacting HMRC for National Insurance numbers, tax codes and other details. Asking them to send these details by post can take up to 10 days, but now it can all be accessed in the HMRC App within minutes, and saved for future use too.
FAQs and background information
What employment details can be accessed through the HMRC app?
Anyone can access their employment information through the app. This includes their 5-year employment history and income, National Insurance number, and tax codes. These details can also be printed (or downloaded) to be shared with a new employer – providing the same information HMRC would post if contacted directly, but without the need to call and then wait for a letter.
Why should new employees use the HMRC app to access this information?
This is the quickest and easiest way for people to access their employment details from HMRC. It can help speed up the recruitment process and security checks, and means new recruits don’t have to call HMRC and wait 10 days for information to arrive in the post.
Why have HMRC introduced the employment information function in the app?
Downloading the free and easy to use HMRC app allows secure access to information about personal tax affairs, avoiding the need to call HMRC, and speeding up pre-employment checks during these busy recruitment months.
More than 340,000 people have used the app to access their employment and income information since July 2022, and we’re really keen for everyone to use it, helping make tax affairs easier and quicker for all.
