Evenbreak won the Disability Smart Inclusive Workplace Experience Award at the Disability Smart Awards 2023 last week. Evenbreak received the Business Disability Forum (BDF) award at a live-streamed ceremony hosted by Freshfields in London and sponsored by Microlink.
The Disability Smart Inclusive Workplace Experience Award recognises organisations that promote the physical and mental wellbeing of all their workers including disabled people.
The judging panel chose Evenbreak for creating a personalised recruitment process and an individualised support package of coaching, mental health, and well-being support for all employees.
In their feedback, the judging panel said: “From day one, Evenbreak enables potential employees to demonstrate their skills in any format they choose. In this way they have created a truly innovative and personalised recruitment process.
“Once employed, colleagues are provided with a holistic, individualised support package of coaching, counselling, mental health, and well-being, as well as being offered the ability to work in ways that best suit their circumstances. This is in addition to regularly reviewing adjustments.
“This in turn feeds into the service that they provide – Evenbreak is an organisation that demonstrates inclusion can be achieved in everything an organisation does.”
Business Disability Forum’s Disability Smart Awards recognise the work of teams and individuals who have gone above and beyond to improve the life experiences of disabled people. They celebrate achievements across areas including leadership, recruitment, technology, workplace experience, customer service, and built environment.
Evenbreak was among ten organisations and individuals who won a Disability Smart Award this year. An additional award was given for life-time achievement.
Jane Hatton, CEO of Evenbreak, said: “Every single member of our team is supportive, inclusive and looks out for everybody else in the team. A big thank you to the Evenbreak team who make it a great place to work.”
BT Group and Charlotte Street Hotel (Firmdale Hotels) were finalists in the Disability Smart Inclusive Workplace Experience award category.
Diane Lightfoot, CEO of Business Disability Forum, said: “The Disability Smart Awards are about challenging organisations to rethink what is possible on disability inclusion. All our winners and finalists have done just that. We congratulate them on their achievements and thank them for sharing their learnings with us and the business community.”
Diane Lightfoot co-hosted the Disability Smart Awards ceremony with Simon Minty. Simon is a long-standing Ambassador of Business Disability Forum, disability trainer and consultant, and TV personality.
