2012 was an exciting year for Evenbreak. It started with the big launch at the House of Commons in January, and throughout the year since then Evenbreak has attracted some fantastic employers who wish to attract more disabled candidates (including Asda, BBC, E.ON, John Lewis, Network Rail, Rank, Royal Shakespeare Company, Scope, Sightsavers, Unipart, Yorkshire Water and Zurich Finance to name but a few). Network Rail very kindly sponsored Evenbreak last year, and even more excitingly, are sponsoring us again this year – so a huge thanks go to them! Equally as important as the employers, Evenbreak has also continued to attract a wonderfully diverse range of disabled candidates – well over 1,000 currently registered, with more registering every day. And we have proved that Evenbreak works – many of our candidates have found work with our employers throughout the year. Our mission to promote the benefits of employing disdabled people has been helped by the “best practice” blog series, a number of articles and radio interviews and talks at colleges and other employment events. We have continued to look for opportunities to work in partnership with other organisations such as Equal Approach, the Clear Company, Shaw Trust and others, so that together we can make a real difference.
2013 is looking to be just as promising. Evenbreak has been shortlisted for two awards (we will know more by next month, so watch this space!), many more employers are in discussions with us about unlimited advertising and there is an exciting personal announcement which I will shortly be making regarding an important link between Evenbreak and a group of specialist colleges for young disabled students – again, watch this space!
As I look to the new year with excitement and positive expectations, I would like to wish all of our loyal readers – whether inclusive employers, disabled job seekers or just friends of Evenbreak – a very happy, peaceful and inclusive new year.
